Within a haze of shimmering dust clouds, for mere moments, man and bull share a moment of pure aggression and passion. Their daring confrontation results in a captivating performance with an energy only made palpable to those who’ve sat in the stands for such a feat. Those who have been in attendance at a Professional Bull Riders event know exactly the feeling, and it’s an unforgettable experience.
This April 7-9, Billings, Montana will get the chance to experience those breathtaking performances, featuring some of the most courageous cowboys ever to ride a bucking bull. The top 35 bull riders in the world will be in town competing at the Built Ford Tough Series. The event is exhilarating for crowds, but the competitive aspect can be even more intense.
Each bull rider will be challenged to stay atop the bull for a total of 8 seconds. If the rider completes the 8 second ride, both his and the bull’s performance will be judged. The combined score is the official ride score used to determine winners throughout the competition.
The bull is judged for how wild its movements are, kicking, changing directions and rolling. The rider, on the other hand, is judged for how in control he is while riding. He has to be able to move with the bull with fluidity. Extra points are awarded for style moves like spurring.
